铁木真拜访了强大的克烈部，以寻求联盟。他前往克烈部，在金色大帐中拜见了首领王罕（即王罕，译者注）。因为王罕曾经是铁木真父亲的‘安答’（译者注：结义兄弟），铁木真希望王罕同意成为他的盟友。为达成交易，他将那件漂亮的紫貂大衣献给了王罕。
Toghril accepted Temujin"s gift and offered him a position of power within the Kereyid tribe. But Temujin declined. He only wanted Toghril"s protection. In return, he and his men would fight for Toghril whenever it was needed. Temujin returned home.
王罕接受了铁木真的礼物，并在克烈部给了他一个权职。但是铁木真拒绝了，他只想要王罕的保护。作为回报，只要有需要，他和他的部众将为王罕而战。随后铁木真便回家了。

One day, eight of Temujin"s horses were stolen. He rode his only remaining horse to pursue the thieves. On his journey he met a boy named Boorchu who helped find and recover the horses.
一天，铁木真有八匹马被偷了。他骑上仅剩的一匹马，去追赶盗马贼。在追赶途中，他遇到了一个名叫博尔术的男孩，他帮铁木真夺回了马匹，并治好了这些马。
Temujin asked Boorchu how many horses he would like as a reward, but Boorchu refused. "I joined you," Boorchu said, "because I saw that you were in trouble and in need of help." Then Boorchu joined Tenujin"s camp. The two became lifelong friends.
